In honor of Valentine’s Day…the color scarlet.
A symbol of guilt, sin and anger, or sex. Remember The Scarlet Letter? A woman in Puritan New England is punished for adultery with ostracism, her sin represented by a red letter ‘A’ sewn into her clothes. Or Scarlet O’Hara from Gone With the Wind? With a name like Scarlet, she’d have to be feisty and passionate, no?
The color is also associated with lust, passion and love, and possibly related to the use of red roses as a love symbol. Sounds like the perfect color for Valentine’s Day.
